Willard South Elementary, an Accelerated School, exists to provide a partnership between students, families, staff, administration and community in which:
- Each student is provided with an educationally and socially healthy environment in which he/she is treated with worth, value, and dignity.
- Each student is given opportunities to fully achieve his/her own potential in a child-centered environment where students can be given individualized attention.
- Each student is ensured both challenging and exciting learning experiences by a dedicated, nurturing, professional staff.
- Each student is encouraged to develop a curiosity, readiness, and love of learning.
- Each student is given access to up-to-date resources and equipment to expand his/her learning experiences.
- Each student is encouraged to develop problem solving, critical thinking, and communicating skills to become a life-long learner.
- Each student and family is assisted in establishing ongoing, in-home learning experiences.
These goals will result in preparing each student for full participation in a diverse and integrated society.
6. Scoring Writing Assignments
- Anchor or Benchmark papers are based on National Standards
- Look at 1st grade- what can the student do? On Anchor’s 1-4
- Compare with Analysis page
- Look at 1 paper in pairs- focus on what the student can do and one teaching point (put score on the back)
- Rotate papers
7. What to take to grade levels
- Make a list of what a student can do on each Anchor paper
- Score at least 2 from each persons class by rotating- make sure to include what the student can do, teaching points, and a score
- Be a resource person to your grade level
- From each teacher in your grade level collect a 1-4 paper. Copy, write grade and WS at the top, and put them in my mailbox.
8. If anyone needs DRA help in your grade level let me know. Linda has offered to help and I am willing to help as well.
