Members in attendance: Lindsey Arnall, (student teacher–Melanie ?), Stephanie Walters, Lindsay Wallace and Dana Beck

We will be visiting Mattews Elementary in Nixa to see Investigations in action within a classroom. We made a list of questions that we will ask each of the teachers/presenters that we visit. Our visit will be near the end of the month.

Our Science night is this Thursday, February 26th from 6:30 – 7:30 PM. The Mad Scientist will be coming with three different booths. His booths include:

1)Dry ice experiments for the different stages of matter

Teachers, if you are in need of student contact hours for career ladder, please come! What a fun way to spend your evening with students and get student contact hours.
Members present: Lindsey Arnall, Stephanie Walters, Lindsay Wallace and Dana Beck

Discussion–
1. We had a terrific turnout for the Science Night with the Mad Scientist. (We had 99 WS students attend.)

split the booths (some booths in the cafeteria and some in the gym)
different/additional tables (tornadoes, volcano, play*doh, etc.)
maybe the Mad Scientist Show with the separate booths
length of the night–depends on if we have a show
other ideas–????

Tasks–

Feburary 25, 2008

Present: Lindsey Arnall, Dana Beck, Stephanie Walters

We looked over first grade GLE’s and matched them to the appropriate chapters in the math book. We also made note of chapters that could be omitted/focused on for a shorter amount of time. This should help ensure that the GLE’s are being taught specifically and not tons of “extra” concepts.

January 14, 2008

Those in attendance: Sarah B, Stephanie W, Lindsey A

We matched the math book chapters to the GLE’s for 3rd grade. We then determined if there were any chapters or parts of chapters that didn’t need to be taught. Doing so would allow the focus to be on the required skills.

In our next meetings we will match the GLE’s and math books for K, 1, 4. Then, we will compare all the GLE cards between grades and see if there are any gaps or areas of need.

December 3, 2007

Attendance: Lindsey Arnall, Sarah Baumgardner, Mandy Horn, Stephanie Walters, and Dana Beck.

Old Business:

Our Science Night was Thursday, November 15th. It was a successful event with 56 Willard South students in attendance; we estimate the attendance with students and their families we had over 120 individuals. The cadre members heard many, many positive comments from the students and their families.

New Business:

Our cadre is considering matching our current math series with the GLEs and skills that are assessed on the MAP test. Our goal is to help teachers know which math chapters must be covered by MAP testing time and which chapters should be used to assist next years teachers with introducing new skills.
